What is a UTX?
At a glance
A duct (or set of ducts) running under the tracks so cables can get from one side of the railway to the other without crossing over the rails.
Why: Cables can't be laid across the track, so any route change of side, or a feed to equipment on the far side, needs a crossing under it.
Where: Wherever the cable needs to change side: to reach a node or housing on the other side, at junctions, or to swap to the better route side. Check the capacity of existing UTXs before boring a new one.
