What is a pigtail?
At a glance
A short fibre tail with a factory-fitted connector on one end, spliced onto a cable fibre so it can plug into an ODF port.
Why: Factory connectors are far more reliable than field-fitted ones, so fibres are terminated by splicing a pigtail on.
Where: At every fibre termination in an ODF, at core and access nodes. The spec sets the build, length and connector types.
